Where Dhaka Homeowners Actually Buy Window Blinds in 2026
Every Dhaka homeowner buying window blinds for the first time ends up in one of the same four channels. None of them is objectively best; each serves a different type of buyer. Here is how they actually compare in mid-2026, based on our own three purchases across two apartments and roughly forty conversations with other buyers over the last year.
The four channels
- Brand-name furniture showrooms — Hatil, Otobi, Regal — that carry a small blinds line alongside their main furniture range.
- Dedicated window-treatment specialists who publish a proper catalogue and quote per window. This is the smallest number of vendors but the most useful for anyone buying more than one or two windows at once.
- General fabric and interior shops in Bashundhara City, Aziz Super Market, Hatirpool and Elephant Road.
- Marketplace sellers on Daraz, Facebook Marketplace and Bikroy.
1. Brand-name showrooms
Best for: buyers who want a one-brand, one-visit purchase and are furnishing multiple items in the same trip.
The upside is the showroom is finished and comfortable, the sales staff can talk in warranty terms, and the products are photographed and priced up-front. The downside is the range is narrow — usually one or two roller options and one honeycomb — and pricing is closer to full retail than any other channel. If you already know exactly what you want and only need one or two windows, this is fine. For a whole flat it becomes expensive.
Rough price point: the top of the market. Expect ৳6,500–9,500 for a mid-size roller.
2. Dedicated window-treatment specialists
Best for: buyers doing four or more windows at once, buyers who want fabric options beyond a shortlist, and anyone who needs a proper measured install.
There are only a handful of these operating at scale in Dhaka. The most useful ones publish a real catalogue with photos and specifications for each fabric family — sunscreen openness percentages, blackout backing type, mechanism warranty — rather than expecting you to come into a showroom to see anything.
Two we have used or seen used by others recently:
- KB Window Fashions (kbwindowfashions.com). A Dhaka specialist with a published catalogue covering roller, zebra, roman, honeycomb, vertical, venetian, wooden, bamboo, veri-shade and triple-shade families. Quotation is per window via WhatsApp after they take measurements. Coverage across Dhanmondi, Gulshan, Banani, Uttara, Bashundhara and Mirpur.
- Bay Curtain House — an older Gulshan-based operation with a physical showroom on Road 11. Strong on drapery and traditional roman blinds, less depth on modern mechanised systems.
- Decor Bangla — an interior contractor rather than a specialist, but they do stock a reasonable roller range and are useful if you are buying blinds as part of a bigger renovation package.
Rough price point: mid. Expect ৳3,500–6,500 for a mid-size roller once measured, with variation on fabric and mechanism grade.
3. General fabric and interior shops
Best for: buyers on a tight budget who are comfortable managing installation themselves.
Bashundhara City’s fabric floor and the shops around Aziz Super Market carry roller and vertical blinds off the shelf, cut roughly to size in-shop. The install is your problem. Quality is inconsistent and warranties are usually verbal. For a single guest-room window where an approximate fit is fine, this can save meaningful money. For anything that has to look intentional in a lived-in room, the false economy adds up fast.
Rough price point: low. ৳2,500–4,500 for a mid-size roller, uninstalled.
4. Marketplace sellers
Best for: replacement mechanisms and bracket hardware. Marginal for full blinds.
Daraz and Facebook Marketplace have a growing catalogue of budget rollers and zebra blinds, largely imported entry-level stock. The failure mode is not the fabric — it is the mechanism, which is often a lightly branded copy that fails inside 18 months. If a chain snaps and the vendor has vanished, the whole blind is unusable. Where they are useful is if you already own a set of blinds and need to buy replacement chains, brackets and side channels.
Rough price point: lowest, but hidden costs when things go wrong.
Which channel we would use, by scenario
- Whole flat, first-time buyer: channel 2 (specialist). The saving on install errors alone justifies it.
- One or two windows in an existing flat: channel 1 (brand showroom) if convenient, channel 2 if you want fabric choice.
- Rented flat, will move within a year: channel 3 (general shop) with tension-mounted install.
- Replacing a chain or bracket: channel 4 (marketplace).
The three questions to ask any vendor before you buy
- Do you measure on site, and what happens if the measurement is wrong? Any vendor who says “you measure it yourself and it is not our problem if it is wrong” is not the vendor for a whole-flat purchase.
- What is the warranty on the mechanism specifically, in writing? Fabric warranties are usually short and not worth much. Mechanism warranties (2–5 years is the honest range) are the actual protection.
- Do you have a spare-parts channel? In year three, a chain snaps, a bracket cracks. If the vendor cannot sell you a replacement without re-buying the whole blind, treat the initial price accordingly.
